It's been revealed that AKB48's Takajo Aki has landed her first lead role in TV Tokyo's drama 'SAVEPOINT' (premieres June 5, every Thursday at 2:35 am). She will play the role of a special unit police officer, and will challenge herself to action scenes, as well as a scene where she chops off her long hair.
Takajo's dream was to become an actress, even before she joined AKB48. "To work in a drama by myself as a lead role is like a dream so I'm extremely happy," she expressed. Regarding the scene where she cuts her hair, she revealed, "Honestly, I was uneasy about it, but I made up my mind to do it in order to perfect my role."
Takajo also made a comment on the action scenes, "I trained my body. In order to show myself as strong and cool, I left my idol self somewhere else while I concentrated on these scenes." She then enthusiastically said, "In AKB48, I don't think there are too many members who can do action, I wanted to what only I can do."
The drama will be directed by Nakai Yu. It will also star Ogi Shigemitsu, Tatsumi Aoi, Uchibori Katsutoshi, Yokota Shingo, and Nozawa Ippei.
