On March 24, SKE48 member Matsui Rena announced through her official Twitter that she will not be participating in the upcoming '7th AKB48 Senbatsu General Election' (June 6 at Fukuoka Yafuoku! Dome).

The reception desk period for the candidacy officially opened on March 25 at 4:00 pm and will run until March 29 at 10:00 pm. Matsui, who made the announcement even before the reception period for candidacy started, called out to her fans, "I will continue to do my best in my own way in order to share joy with everyone, so please support me."�

Matsui Rena is SKE48's 1st generation member, and is also a concurrent member of Nogizaka46�since last year. Every 'Senbatsu General Election', she had moved up in the ranking; from 29 (2009), 11 (2010), 10 (2011 & 2012), 7 (2013), and 5 (2014).�
