Singer-songwriter Hamada Shogo's latest original album "Journey of a Songwriter" released on April 29 sold 24,000 copies this week, topping the Oricon weekly album ranking.
As it was also ranked No.1 last week, this is the second consecutive week for the album to top the chart. With this, Hamada has become the oldest artist to top Oricon's chart (for both singles and albums) 2 weeks in a row.
Up until now, Takeuchi Mariya was the oldest artist to do so which she achieved with her album "TRAD" when she was 59 years and 6 months old, but Hamada, who is 62 years and 5 months old, beat her record.
