AKB48's Kato Rena started a project called "AKB48 Kato Rena's Oshimen General Election" ("Renacchi General Election") on talk app "755". The 16 members chosen by Kato will form a new unit. 

Kato started "Renacchi General Election" to respond to fans' requests on "755". A total of 125 members approved and became candidates for this project. On June 15, Kato herself announced her oshimen (favorite member) from counting down from 16 to 1. 

The member who came on top was HKT48 Team H's Tanaka Natsumi. On choosing Tanaka, Kato explained, "She is very young, only 14-years-old! Despite her young age, she is a very impressive MC!" 

Besides Tanaka, the top 7 members include Tano Yuuka, Oshima Ryoka, Yamamoto Sayaka, Shimazaki Haruna, Kato, and Sato Nanami. On this project, general producer Akimoto Yasushi commented, "Let's create a song and music video," and formally decided the formation of a new unit.
