Suda Masaki and Kiritani Kenta's cover of Beat Takeshi's "Asakusa Kid" will be used as the theme song for movie 'Hibana.'
'Hibana' is based on a novel by Matayoshi Naoki of comedian duo Peace that won the Akutagawa Prize in 2015. Suda plays a young comedian named 'Tokunaga,' and Kiritani plays the role of a senior comedian named 'Kamiya.'
Suda and Kiritani's cover of "Asakusa Kid" comes at the very end of the film describing the feelings of young comedians who dream of becoming popular someday. "It made me excited to think about what a luxury it is to sing 'Asakusa Kid' with Kiritani-san," commented Suda. Meanwhile, Kiritani stated, "While we were recording together, we got really excited towards the end. I was watching Suda's face change as he was singing on the opposite side of me."
