Hoshino Gen's song "Doraemon" will be used as the new opening theme for anime 'Doraemon.' 

"Doraemon" was originally written as the theme song for 'Movie Doraemon Nobita no Takarajima', which was released in March of 2018. In 40 years of 'Doraemon' history, this is the first time a movie theme song will officially be used as the opening theme for the anime series. This was decided as 'Doraemon' airtime will be moving from every Fridays at 7:00 pm to every Saturdays at 5:00 pm. 

On receiving this offer, Hoshino commented, "When I heard that they wanted to use this song for a historic regular anime like 'Doraemon,' I jumped for joy. I felt glad that I spent several months thinking about Doraemon and Fujiko-sensei to put my heart and soul into making this song. I feel very proud as a musician."
