Matsuoka Mitsuru (SOPHIA, MICHAEL) announced via his official website that his car, a 1968 Chevrolet Corvette C3, had recently caught fire. 

Matsuoka had owned his 1968 Chevrolet Corvette C3 for over 15 years, and it was also introduced on the BS NTV program 'Oyagihagi no Aisha Henreki NO CAR, NO LIFE!' The car apparently caught fire the day after he had gotten maintenance done. When he started driving it, he noticed a strange odor and contacted the fire department. Unfortunately, the car went up into flames before the fire crew could reach him. There were no problems in the engine compartment, and there was nothing inside of the car that could've caught fire. As such, the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Matsuoka was in shock that his car, which he had taken good care of for so many years, had caught fire. "It happened on the public road, so it was a relief to me that neighborhood residents and passersby weren't injured. To my fans, I apologize for causing you to worry," he said.
