On September 18, BUMP OF CHICKEN bassist Naoi Yoshifumi apologized via Twitter regarding reports that he was involved in an adulterous relationship in the past.

Naoi apologized saying, "Regarding the article about me that was released recently, I apologize from the bottom of my heart that I wasn't able to sincerely respond to the woman I was involved with at the time." He continued, "Also, to all of my listeners who support me every day and to persons concerned that I am indebted to, I apologize for causing worry and trouble."

Naoi stated, "I feel scared and frustrated that I have made listeners who love BUMP OF CHICKEN's music feel bad, and lose trust in our music." He added, "I am also sorry to the band members Fujiwara Motoo, Masukawa Hiroaki, and Masu Hideo who I have been working with together in music until now, as well as to family and staff who have supported me." 

Finally, he said, "Reflecting upon my past self and correcting my future self, and working even harder in my music career, I hope to recover the trust that I've lost." 

On September 18, 'Bunshun Online' reported that Naoi was seeing a non-celebrity woman while hiding the fact that he was married. The article stated that a management staff from his agency visited the editorial department of the magazine, and confirmed that Naoi currently has a wife and child, and has been involved in affairs with other women.
