On October 14th, Miyamoto Mayu's agency announced that the actress had tested positive for COVID-19. 

Oscar Promotion stated, "At this time, our agency's Miyamoto Mayu has been confirmed to be infected with the novel coronavirus." They explained, "A staff at one of Miyamoto Mayu's work sites discovered that they a positive diagnosis. She was contacted by the health center that she was a person of close contact, so she went to get the PCR test right away. On October 13, it was confirmed that she had contracted the virus. Fortunately, she does not have a fever, nor is experiencing any changes to her health." 

The continued, "Following the instructions from the health center, and under guidance of the medical institutions and government agencies, we will be thorough about her health management and respond to it carefully. To all of her fans and persons concerned, we sincerely apologize for the worries and troubles caused at this time."
