Natsukawa Sosuke's best-selling novel 'Kamisama no Karute' will be receiving a drama adaptation starring actor Fukushi Sota.
The story of 'Kamisama no Karute' revolves around a physician named Kurihara Ichito who works "24 hours a day, 365 days a year" at a hospital. It was previously adapted into a movie starring Sakurai Sho and Miyazaki Aoi.
The upcoming drama will consist of four episodes with each one being two hours long. Morishita Tadashi ('America ni Makenakatta Otoko') will be in charge of its screenplay, and Murakami Shosuke ('Siren no Zange'), Taniguchi Masaaki ('Yoru ga Dorehodo Kurakutemo'), and Hashimoto Hajime ('Aibou') will serve as its directors.
On his first physician role, Fukushi commented, "I will be playing Kurihara Ichito, who respects [novelist] Natsume Soseki, and because of that influence, his choice of words are quite old-fashioned. Ichito is also a sourpuss, so people around him think he's a weirdo. However, I have fully accepted his kindness, which is at his core."
