Katori Shingo has been cast in TV Tokyo's upcoming drama series "Anonymous~Keishicho 'Yubisatsujin' Taisakushitsu" to premiere in January.
'Anonymous' is a suspense drama that focuses on the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's newly created department that aims to rescue people who are on the verge of losing their lives due to internet defamation and slander. It will portray the activities of protagonist 'Banjo Wataru' (Katori) and the other members of the department, who are all peculiar characters that went off the career track. This will be Katori's first commercial drama in 5 years and also his first TV Tokyo drama in 33 years.
On being cast in TV Tokyo's drama, Katori commented, "The nervousness I had when I was commuting to TV Tokyo by train as an elementary school student has returned." Based on his experience using social media, he said, "The comments from all of my supporters puts a smile on my face. However, I have not forgotten how afraid I was before I started using SNS. I hope that 'Anonymous' will be able to portray not only the darkness of SNS, but also the light beneath it as well."
