It's been revealed that Kobukuro will be in charge of the theme song for 'Osaka, Kansai Expo 2025' to be held at Yumeshima, Osaka from April 13 to October 13 of 2025.

Kobukuro, who formed in Osaka in 1998, held a large-scale street live at the event 'Midosuji Autumn Party 2018' in November of 2018, which became a huge contribution to the Expo's attraction. In addition, Kobuchi Kentaro was appointed charity ambassador for the Osaka Marathon, and wrote its theme songs "42.195km" and "Osaka SOUL." Furthermore, Kobukuro became the Osaka-Shanghai Friendship Exchange Ambassador in 2019. All of the above show that Kobukuro is an artist that represents Osaka.

On October 10, the duo attended the '1970 Osaka Expo 50th Anniversary Ceremony' at the Expo'70 Commemorative Park in Osaka. They talked about the upcoming 'Osaka, Kansai Expo' together with the governor of Osaka Prefecture and mayor of Osaka City. During this event, Kobukuro stated, "We will do anything to liven up Osaka!" to which mayor Matsui responded, "Let's have them sing the official theme song for 2025!" This offer came as a surprise to the two who said, "Thank you very much! We will do our best to help.
