It's been announced that SEKAI NO OWARI's Fukase will be making his acting debut in the suspense film 'Character' that's set for release next June.
'Character' is an original film that manga artist Nagasaki Takashi, movie producer Kawamura Genki ('Kokuhaku,' 'Kimi no Na wa.'), and Fuji TV producer Murase Ken ('Nobunaga Concerto,' 'Yakusoku no Neverland') spent 10 years making. It's directed by Nagai Akira ('Sekai kara Neko ga Kietanara,' 'Koi wa Ameagari no You ni').
Suda Masaki plays the protagonist Yamashiro Keigo, a manga artist's assistant who has drawing ability, but is unable to draw villains because he is too friendly. While going out for a sketch, he comes across a scene of a murder case and sees the criminal's face. Yamashiro lies during a police interrogation claiming that he did not see the criminal, but goes on to write a manga based on the criminal, which becomes a hit. However, cases that imitate those in his manga occur one after another. While all of this is happening, the murderer, named Morozumi (played by Fukase), appears in front of Yamashiro again.
Fukase commented, "When I received the offer, I was honestly very worried. I felt that I wouldn't be fit for the role and would only cause trouble. However, I was able to prepare for it for over a year. When we started filming, I was nervous, but enjoyed it a lot. When we wrapped up, I felt tears welling up in my eyes."
