On January 13th, Fujita Tomoko's agency announced that the actress has been diagnosed with COVID-19. 

According to an announcement on the agency's official website, Fujita first broke out with a fever on the 6th so she isolated at home. However, as her symptoms continued, she took the PCR test on the 12th which was confirmed positive on the same day. 

"Her current condition is stable, and she is continuing to recuperate at home. Her husband Kuwayama Tetsuya has been identified to be a person of close contact," they said.

Kuwayama, who is an accordion player, also made the announcement regarding his wife on his Twitter account. He wrote, "As I have been considered to be a person of close contact, I have been isolating at home under the instruction of the health center. As such, 'Shinshun Chanson Talk Show,' which was scheduled to be held today, has been postponed in consideration of the safety of the performers and other persons concerned,"
