It's been announced that composer Sakamoto Ryuichi has received surgery for rectal cancer. 

According to an announcement on his official website, Sakamoto overcame throat cancer after being diagnosed in 2014; however, he was diagnosed with rectal cancer last year. The surgery was a success, and he is currently recovering in the hospital. 

While it will be difficult for him to travel long distances for work, Sakamoto plans to continue working while receiving treatment. He commented, "From now on, I will be 'living with cancer.' I want to make music a little longer, so it would make me happy if everyone would watch over me."
