FUNKY MONKEY BABYS to return for one night only on 'Ongaku no Hi'

TH STAFF

FUNKY MONKEY BABYS, who disbanded on June 2, 2013, will be making a comeback for one night only on TBS's special music program 'Ongaku no Hi' on March 11.

'Ongaku no Hi' is a music program that started in 2011 with the theme "to cheer up Japan with the power of music." The upcoming program, which will air on the tenth anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake, will be a four-hour live broadcast from Sekisui Heim Super Arena in Miyagi. On the day of the earthquake, FUNKY MONKEY BABYS held a concert at a Jr. High School in Fukushima Prefecture to cheer on graduating students. Since then, they have sent relief supplies and donations, as well as hold lives to assist with reconstruction.

The group agreed to make an appearance on 'Ongaku no Hi' as the program's staff wanted to pass on the recollections of the earthquake to the next generation through music. They will be performing live from Rakuten Seimei Park in Miyagi.

FUNKY MONKEY BABYS will be joined by Tanaka Masahiro of the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles. Tanaka has appeared on the jacket cover of the group's single "Ato Hitotsu" released in August of 2010. He has also used this song upon entering the field in the past.
