AKB48 will release their 58th single (currently untitled) on September 29.

This was announced on May 23 during their concert '17LIVE presents AKB48 15th Anniversary LIVE AKB48 Tandoku Concert ~Sukinaraba Suki dato Iou~' at Pia Arena MM. For the upcoming single, members from AKB48's sister groups will not be participating in the title track nor coupling tracks. This has not happened since the group's 19th single "Chance no Junban" was released in December of 2010. Kashiwagi Yuki, who found out about the single during the concert, expressed in tears, "I think I'm happy that it's been entrusted to AKB48 only... No, I'm quite happy!"

In addition, it was also announced that AKB48's new TV program will begin in July. The group hasn't had a program since 'AKBINGO!' ended in September of 2019. Their new program will be tentatively titled 'Nogizaka ni, Kosaremashita. ~Gakeppuchi AKB48 no Daigyakushu~' (roughly translates to 'Nogizaka surpassed us. The great counterattack by AKB48 on the edge.') When the members learned about the title, they couldn't hide their shock and confusion as they exclaimed, "No way!!" and "That's the title?"

The concert on May 23 was directed by Kashiwagi, who is the eldest member of the group, with the thought "I want to cherish the AKB48 until now and the AKB48 of the future." They performed a total of 48 songs old and new including numbers by group, team, and unit.
