AKB48's last first generation member Minegishi Minami will graduate from the group on May 28 at AKB48 Theater.

Minegishi made this announcement on her regular radio program on TOKYO FM. While her graduation concert will be held on May 22 at at Pia Arena MM, she explained that there is a "custom of graduating after a theater concert," so her actual graduation date will be May 28. "Please support AKB48's Minegishi Minami until the very end," she greeted. 

Minegishi passed the 'AKB48 Opening Member Audition' and made her debut as the group's first generation member on December 8, 2005. Following a dating scandal in January of 2013, Minegishi shaved her head bald, which created a lot of stir. She was then demoted to kenkyusei status, but returned as an official member as well as the captain of Team 4 in August of 2013. Minegishi was originally scheduled to hold her graduation concert on April 2, 2020 at Yokohama Arena, but had been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
