Base Ball Bear will release their new digital single "Poolsider" on June 30.
The band performed this summer song on June 4 during the finale of their tour 'Base Ball Bear TOUR ~Over Drive~' which was streamed online without an audience. The set list from this concert is now available as a playlist on Apple Music, Spotify, and other music streaming services.
On the song, Koide Yusuke (Vo, G) explained that although the title has a refreshing ring to it, it means "an observer by the waterside." He went on to talk about how he used to always sit out during swimming classes when he was younger because he couldn't swim, and would often feel empty when he saw everyone frolicking around in the water. Before he realized it, he had become an adult who couldn't frolic when he wanted to. He couldn't watch or listen to the same things that everyone else enjoyed. Even when the band appeared at summer festivals, he couldn't enjoy himself, and when everyone had picked up a new hobby during lockdown, he couldn't start anything himself. Which is why he decided that he wanted to say goodbye to his old self who couldn't enjoy doing anything. "Life is limited. I want to live a fruitful life," he said.
