On May 31, talent Kumada Yoko (39) released a statement through her agency that she is currently negotiating a divorce after her husband was arrested on May 18 on suspicion of assault. 

First, Kumada apologized, "I am very sorry for causing trouble with my personal life during a time when everyone is going through tough times due to the coronavirus pandemic." Then, she confirmed the reports on her husband's arrest, stating, "As it has been reported, late at night on May 18, I called the police after being assaulted by my husband and felt concerned about my safety. The police officers who rushed over arrested my husband and I filed a damage report. This is all true."

Apparently, this is not the first time Kumada has been assaulted by her husband. "I would feel scared when it was time for my husband to come home. I realized that it would be difficult to continue our married life in that situation. Upon many discussions with my agency and lawyers, I have decided to divorce my husband. I have trusted my lawyers with the divorce procedure," she explained. 

Finally, she wrote, "I will do my best to live my life with my children. It would make me happy if you would watch over us warmly." 

Kumada registered her marriage with her husband in April of 2012. Their first daughter was born in December of 2012, second daughter in October of 2015, and third daughter in June of 2018.
