On July 1, actress Mori Kanna (33, previously Moriya Kanna) and basketball player Baba Yudai (25) announced that they have gotten married.

In a handwritten message, Mori reported, "At this time, I, Mori Kanna, would like to announce that I have registered my marriage with basketball player Baba Yudai. Right now, I am not sure what it means to become a part of someone's life, or what it means to get married, but right now, when the world has changed so much, thinking about his gentle smile and how he's always beside me, I felt that I could live strong. I realized that this is what it means to become family. I am just filled with happy feelings." 

In addition, Mori announced that she would be leaving Sony Music Artists and will be using her real name 'Mori Kanna' from now on. She explained, "In order to live a grounded life in these times when anything could happen, I felt that I should go independent and take responsibility while making a living in this world of acting." 

Similarly, Baba said, "At this time, I, Baba Yudai, have married actress Mori Kanna-san. As a man, I feel absolutely humbled. I feel very happy to live my life together with a woman who is filled with so much love." 

The couple's relationship was first reported by tabloid magazines back in August of 2019. They began dating in February that year after Mori was appointed ambassador of the B-League All-Stars Game. The two then confirmed their relationship during an interview in front of one of their homes.
