It's been announced that seven members of AKB48 have tested positive for COVID-19.

The members who have confirmed positive for the virus include Omori Maho, Kuranoo Narumi, Sakaguchi Nagisa, Nagano Serika, Suzuki Yuka, Uemi Sorano, and Tokunaga Remi. Omori, Kuranoo, Nagano, and Suzuki came down with a fever on July 30th, so they conducted the PCR test on the 31st, and received their positive results later that evening. Similarly, Sakaguchi and Uemi broke out with a fever on the 31st, and Tokunaga on August 1st, so they all took the PCR test and learned that they were infected with the virus. 

The health center has found contact tracing to be difficult in the current situation, so all members who have come in close contact with the seven cases will be self quarantining and monitoring their condition. Consequently, AKB48 will not participate in the live program 'Skapa! Idol Fes! ~2021 Summer~' to broadcast on the 6th. In addition, Team 4's 'Te wo Tsunaginagara' performance on the 2nd, 'AKB48 Fresh Concert ~Natsu wa Yappari AKB!~' on the 7th, and '8gatsu 8ka wa Eight no Hi 2021 Yokohama Oshare Matsuri' on the 8th have all been cancelled.
