SKE48 has announced that members Sugiyama Aika and Ota Ayaka have been diagnosed with COVID-19.
Sugiyama came down with a fever while at home on August 1st. As such, she quarantined at home and did not participate in Team S's performance that day. After taking a PCR test, she received her positive result on the 2nd.
As for Ota, she wasn't feeling well on the 1st so she conducted the PCR test. While her initial result came back negative, she was re-tested on the 2nd and was confirmed positive for the virus. August 1st was the Fukuoka concert of the group's Zepp Tour, but as she had a fever prior to rehearsal, she immediately returned home while distancing herself from the other members.
Meanwhile, Sugiyama will not be participating in the group's live at Zepp Nagoya on the 8th. In addition, concerts at SKE48 Theater from the 3rd to the 5th have all been cancelled.
Currently, both Sugiyama and Ota are in stable condition. As a result of contact tracing, members Hidaka Yuzuki and Mizuno Airi have been identified as close contacts and will be quarantining.
