Yoshioka Kiyoe's new song ‘Dekoboko’ to be the opening theme for TV animation series 'A Couple of Cuckoos'

TH STAFF

Ikimonogakari vocalist Yoshioka Kiyoe will be singing the opening theme for the TV animation series, 'A Couple of Cuckoos' ('Kakkou no Iinazuke'), that's slated to air on TV Asahi from April in 2022. This will be her first time singing the opening theme for a TV anime as a solo act.

'A Couple of Cuckoos' is a manga series telling a love story that started from an incident where babies were switched at birth. It was written and illustrated by Yoshikawa Miki, who also created 'Flunk Punk Rumble,' and 'Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches.' When Kondansha published the first comic book of this manga series back in May of 2020, it quickly sold out at every book shop. An extremely popular manga series, it required 10 editions in the shortest amount of time in the history of Kondansha.

As the anime's opening theme, Yoshioka will sing the song "Dekoboko," which was created by Nagaya Haruko of Ryokuoushoku Shakai. Nagaya and Yoshioka are close in both personal and business relations often appearing on TV programs together.

"Dekoboko" is said to have an authentic pop sound with a very charming feeling. It will be available for streaming and download on various music platforms from April 17.

To coincide with this announcement, the cover art for "Dekoboko" as well as Yoshioka's new artist photograph have been revealed. The artwork was done by Mr.HARU (koe Inc.), who also worked on Yoshioka’s last single "Massara."

Finally, the main PV of 'A Couple of Cuckoos' has been released on KADOKAW Anime YouTube Channel. You can listen to a portion of "Dekoboko" in the PV below.
