It's been reported that actor Furuya Ikko passed away on August 23. He was 78 years old. 

According to From First Production, Furuya's funeral has already been held with family according to the bereaved family's wishes. A memorial event will be held later upon discussion with his family. 

Furuya was born in Tokyo in 1944. After completing his training in Haiyuza Theatre Company, he became known for his role as detective Kosuke Kindaichi in the TV drama series. His son is Furuya Kenji (Dragon Ash, Kj) and daughter-in-law is MEGUMI.
