
It's been reported that singer Mizuki Ichiro passed away on December 6th due to lung cancer. He was 74 years old.
According to his agency, Mizuki was diagnosed with lung cancer in April of 2021. Since then, he was hospitalized many times, received radiotherapy and drug therapy, and continued to fight the illness. However, he was rushed to the hospital on the 6th where he later died.
While he suffered severe conditions, Mizuki devoted himself to treatment and rehab aiming for an "active lifestyle." He last appeared in front of fans with a smile on November 27th at 'Mizuki Ichiro・Horie Mitsuko Futari no Anison #19.'
According to the wishes of the bereaved family, Mizuki's wake and funeral were held with close relatives. A memorial event will be scheduled later after discussion with the bereaved family.
Mizuki made his singing debut in 1968. He switched over to anime songs after providing the theme song for 'Genshi Shonen Ryu' in 1971. Since then, he has provided the theme songs for numerous anime including 'Mazinger Z,' 'Babel II,' 'Kamen Rider X,' 'Chodenji Robo Combattler V,' and 'Uchuu Kaizoku Captain Harlock.'
