On March 23, former AKB48's Shinoda Mariko (37) updated her Instagram account announcing her divorce.

Shinoda reported, "We have caused a great deal of concern regarding our marriage, but I would like to announce at this time, we have agreed to get a divorce after discussion and our marital problems have been successfully resolved. We will continue to cooperate in raising our daughter as her father and mother." 

She added, "Regarding our family's personal problems, we ask that you withhold from future reports. We have caused a great deal of inconvenience and concern to many people, but it would make me happy if you would please watch over me warmly. I kindly ask for your continued guidance and support."

Shinoda married a non-celebrity man on February 16, 2019. In March the following year, she announced the birth of their first child, a daughter. Late last year, some tabloid magazines reported that Shinoda and her husband were going through a divorce mediation. They also reported that she had been having an affair. At the time, Shinoda denied the reports saying, "I just want to make one thing clear. It is not true that I had an affair."
