Two-time Olympic figure skating champion Hanyu Yuzuru has announced his marriage. 

On August 4, Hanyu made the announcement via a social media post:

"For the past 24 years, I have lived with skating. Especially in the recent few years, I have been feeling many emotions while facing skating and thinking about various things related to myself and the world while living in this unstable and fast-changing world caused by COVID-19, natural disasters, and world affairs, etc. 

Even though I am still immature as a human being, I have received immeasurable strength from everyone's support and expectations both after turning professional and in my past as a competitor. 

Thank you very much.

I will continue to deepen the skating of 'Hanyu Yuzuru' through my life, and will continue to work hard and progress.

I will continue to build up one by one and moment by moment in order to skate at my best.

I will continue to live my life with everyone who supports me and with skating, doing my best and moving forward. 

And with gratitude to those who have supported me and those who will continue to support me, I will continue to skate so that I can give everything in the best possible way. Please continue to support me."
