In a recent episode of the late-night TV show "Hinatazaka de Aimashou," idol group Hinatazaka46 unveiled the lineup for their upcoming 2nd album, set to release on November 8th (title yet to be announced). The surprise came with the revelation that Kumi Sasaki, a 1st-generation member and the group's captain, would take center stage for the album's lead track. This decision marks a first in the history of Sakamichi groups, where a captain steps into the spotlight for a single or album.
During the show, Sasaki shared her excitement, saying, "Hinatazaka46 is known for having various members take on the center role. Behind the scenes, we all face our challenges, but on stage, we stay true to ourselves. I hope I can bring my own style to the center position with the support of everyone."
She went on, "Even I was taken aback by this, so I imagine Hinatazaka46 fans might be even more surprised. But in my own way, I'm determined to work closely with everyone to make this unique role something special.'
The news of Sasaki's center position generated a range of reactions, with fans expressing comments like "It's a historic moment, the captain as the center for the title track – quite a surprise!" "History in the making!" "The idea of the captain leading the way is thrilling," and "It just feels right, a fresh and fitting choice."
