On September 29, 2023, the Kushiro District Public Prosecutor's Office decided not to press charges against a 79-year-old guy who had been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in her 100s at a senior care facility in Teshikaga Town, Hokkaido. They haven't given a reason for this decision.

The guy was arrested on September 9 for allegedly assaulting the elderly lady, who was bedridden, on the evening of September 7 within the facility. Sadly, the woman was taken to the hospital and passed away. It's truly outrageous that such a serious incident appears to have gone without legal consequences.
