On October 24, 2023, the idol group "1-tsu Tarinai Sai wa Nagerareta" brought attention to a change in their gift-receiving policy. The group expressed concerns that some gifts might contain GPS devices, which raised significant privacy issues for their members.
To address this issue, the group's management issued an "important notice" via X (previously known as Twitter), condemning any breach of their members' personal lives and privacy. The management emphasized that they cannot overlook such an intrusion and introduced new rules for gift-giving. Under the revised policy, members are restricted to receiving "letters" and "unopened ready-made products." Some exceptions were noted, including items that operate on electricity, food and drink, goods, cash, gift cards, and more.
Furthermore, to enhance privacy and security, the group announced that gifts would no longer be handed directly to the recipients. Instead, they will be placed with the management staff or in a designated gift box. These items will undergo even more rigorous checks before being delivered to the intended recipients.
One member, Tomoka Takasuka, expressed her disappointment over not being able to receive the thoughtful gifts that fans had prepared. She extended her apologies to those who had already purchased gifts and those who had thoughtfully selected presents, only to find that the new rules prevented their delivery.
In light of these privacy concerns, the group has taken these precautionary measures to ensure that their members' personal boundaries are respected, reaffirming the importance of privacy and security in their interactions with fans.
