Renowned singer-songwriter KAN, known for his hit "Ai wa Katsu," has passed away at the age of 61. The Fukuoka-born artist had been battling a rare form of cancer known as Meckel diverticulum cancer since publicly disclosing it in March this year.

KAN's agency confirmed his passing, stating, "Diagnosed with Meckel diverticulum cancer earlier this year, KAN engaged in treatment while leading a recuperative life since March, going in and out of the hospital. In October, he visited the cherished city of Paris, where he had studied abroad, and remained committed to his return until the end."

KAN, whose heartfelt melodies touched many, has peacefully left this world at the age of 61. His music will continue to resonate, leaving an enduring legacy for fans around the globe.
