In a poignant update shared on November 30th, manga artist Hiroyuki Tamakoshi, known for his work on "BOYS BE..." and the ongoing "Mobile Suit Gundam: War in the Pocket," revealed that cancer has metastasized to his liver. This unfortunate development has led to the temporary suspension of the series. Tamakoshi, who previously battled stage 3 rectal cancer in 2021 and resumed his work after chemotherapy, expressed his determination to focus on treatment during this hiatus.
In an additional statement posted on X, Tamakoshi disclosed further details about his medical condition: "Following the surgery on the 13th, the results of the pathological examination on the removed area revealed cancer metastasis to the lymph nodes and blood vessels. The stage is now 3. Starting next week, I will undergo a 4-month course of chemotherapy, with the aim of resuming serialization in early next year. I am committed to giving my best effort during this period and am determined to resume the series. Please rest assured that I will definitely return, so I ask for your patience a little while longer."
Despite facing health challenges, Tamakoshi continues to make significant contributions to the manga world. In his announcement, Tamakoshi reassured fans, pledging to return as soon as possible and expressing gratitude for ongoing support.
As Tamakoshi embarks on this challenging journey, fans eagerly await his return and extend heartfelt wishes for a swift and full recovery.
