AKB48 held their last performance of the year on December 31 at AKB48 Theater where it was announced that Kuranoo Narumi will be the group's next General Manager. Mukaichi Mion, who is the current General Manager, will pass the baton to Kuranoo on March 17, 2024.

Kuranoo commented, "At this time, I have been appointed as AKB48 group's fourth General Manager. I am Kuranoo Narumi. When I first received this news, I was worried about whether or not I could do it. However, when I look back at this year, there were members who graduated in order to pursue new things, the 18th generation members joined, and we started looking for 19th generation members. I felt that AKB48 was at a new crossing point. As AKB48 changes, I thought about what I want to do, and like how my senpai always led the way, I strongly wanted to take the lead. Until now, I watched the backs of three different general managers who each had their own charm. They were all general managers that I wanted to follow. Like them, I want to lead the group as the general manager."
