Sakura Yamamura, a 17-year-old member of SKE48, has announced that she will temporarily step away from the group's activities beginning September 1, 2024, to concentrate on her academic responsibilities.
The official statement shared by SKE48 reads, "After careful discussion following Sakura’s request to focus on her studies, we have decided that it’s best for her to take a break from her activities for the time being." This marks a significant pause in her career as she balances the demands of her final year of high school.
While Yamamura won’t be participating in the "SKE48 16th Anniversary Festival 2024," she is still expected to be involved in the group’s 33rd single release and related special events. Further updates on her participation in other activities will be provided as details are finalized.
In a message to fans, Yamamura shared, "Balancing SKE48 and my studies has been a challenge, especially as I approach graduation. After much consideration, I’ve decided to take a break to focus fully on my education. I’m deeply grateful for your continued support and hope you’ll wait for my return."
Sakura Yamamura’s Message to Fans:
"To all the fans who have supported me, I’m sorry for the sudden news. After much deliberation and consultation with my manager, I’ve decided to take a break to focus on my studies, so that I can continue my activities with SKE48 after graduating from high school.
Balancing both has become increasingly difficult, especially as graduation draws near. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to the fans, my fellow members, and the staff. I hope you’ll understand and give me a little more time.
I promise I’ll be back, so I would be grateful if you could wait for me. Thank you for your unwavering support.
Team KII, Sakura Yamamura"
