AKB48 member Haruka Komiyama has announced that she will graduate from the group next February.
This announcement was made on August 30 during the group's performance at AKB48 Theater. She reflected on her 11-year career saying, "I feel I've done all I could in AKB48. I enjoyed my idol life to the fullest." She added, "After finishing my duties as captain of Team K, I had more time to think about my own future. After experiencing many things, I've made up my mind to move onto my next path, so I'm really happy."
More details on Komiyama's graduation will be announced at a later date. She commented, "Graduation is a little far from now, but I will do my best these next six months to return the favor to all of my fans."
Komiyama made her debut as a 15th generation member in 2013. She was a senbatsu member for the first time for the group's single "High Tension" released in November of 2016. During the team shuffle in 2017, she was appointed the captain of Team K.
