Renowned singer-songwriter Sayuri passed away on September 20 at the young age of 28. The heartbreaking news was shared on Sayuri's official X (formerly Twitter) account by her husband, Ama Arashi, on the 27th.

In his emotional message, Amaarashi expressed, "It is with a heavy heart that I inform everyone who has supported Sayuri that she passed away on September 20. She was 28 years old. In accordance with her family’s wishes, her funeral was held privately, attended only by close relatives and friends." He added, "We are deeply grateful for the love and kindness shown to Sayuri during her life, and together with you, we pray for her eternal peace."

The statement also included a request to media outlets, urging them to respect the privacy of Sayuri's grieving family, stating, "We kindly ask the press to refrain from contacting her family or associates during this deeply painful time." Additionally, fans were informed that although Sayuri had been accepting fan letters via her live production company’s office, the family would not be accepting condolence letters or gifts in light of her passing.

Sayuri made her major debut in August 2015 with the ending theme "Mikazuki" for the Fuji TV anime Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace. Her raw and emotional sound resonated deeply with fans, earning her widespread recognition right from her debut.

However, in July of this year, Sayuri had revealed on her official X account that she had been diagnosed with a functional voice disorder, a condition that affects the normal use of the vocal cords despite no structural damage to the larynx. This condition can cause voice strain, hoarseness, or even a loss of voice, making it difficult for those affected to sing or speak. Sayuri announced a temporary hiatus from singing to focus on her treatment, leaving fans hopeful for her recovery.
