J-pop icon Kumi Koda began celebrating the 25th anniversary of her remarkable career. Marking the date of her 2000 debut, the festivities include a surprise release of her new song This Weekend, an exclusive documentary, and a series of intimate fan events.

Her new single This Weekend serves as the theme for her latest GEMCEREY jewelry commercial, her first with the brand in 17 years. The R&B-inspired track captures the excitement and anticipation of love, with lyrics expressing the hope for a romantic confession by the weekend. The release is accompanied by stunning cover art featuring Koda adorned in shimmering jewels, tying in beautifully with the commercial’s theme.

As part of the celebrations, Koda premiered her first-ever feature-length documentary, KODA KUMI 25th Anniversary Documentary Film “walk”, over two days in Tokyo. The film steps away from the spotlight, offering fans a glimpse of the artist’s life behind the scenes. It explores the challenges and triumphs of her career, chronicling the journey that led her to this milestone. Featuring interviews with Koda and her trusted team, along with exclusive backstage footage, the documentary adds a deeply personal touch to the anniversary year.

Fans were also treated to a special event on December 6 at Kiranah Garden Toyosu. Titled CLUB KODA, the celebration filled the venue with her music and visuals, creating a vibrant tribute to her 25-year journey.

Koda’s anniversary celebrations began earlier this month with the launch of her dinner show tour, KODA KUMI 25th Anniversary Love & Songs, on December 1. This intimate concert series allows fans to connect with the star on a personal level as she reflects on her career and performs beloved hits.
