Motoki Ohmori, the vocalist of rock band Mrs. GREEN APPLE, will make his acting debut in the upcoming NHK morning drama Anpan, set to premiere on March 31, 2025. Based on the lives of manga artist Takashi Yanase and his wife Nobu Komatsu, Anpan follows the emotional and inspiring journey of the couple, culminating in the creation of the iconic "Anpanman."
Ohmori will portray a character named Ise Takuya, a composer inspired by the real-life Izumi Taku, who composed the famous song "Tenohira wo Taiyo ni" with lyrics by Yanase. Expressing his enthusiasm, Ohmori shared, "With the utmost respect for Izumi Taku, I will give my all to portray this role."
This marks Ohmori's first television drama appearance, following his successful performances in music videos and the film Mrs. GREEN APPLE // The White Lounge in CINEMA. Additionally, he will star alongside Fuma Kikuchi of Timelesz in the upcoming film #Shinso wo Ohanashi Shimasu, set for release on April 25.
Ohmori's dynamic artistry, honed through his musical career, is set to shine in this new venture as he brings his unique emotional depth to the role of Ise Takuya in Anpan.
Anpan will air on NHK starting March 31, 2025, at 8:00 AM JST, with a total of 130 episodes. The drama will also feature a stellar cast, including Takumi Kitamura, Mio Imada, Ryo Kase, and many others. The theme song, Tamamoto, will be performed by RADWIMPS.
