
Ayumi Ishida, celebrated for her iconic single "Blue Light Yokohama," has passed away at the age of 76 due to hypothyroidism. According to an official statement from Izawa Office, she died on March 11th at 4:48 AM in a Tokyo hospital.
Ishida, who starred in her final films, Shinji Muroi: Not Defeated and Shinji Muroi: Stay Alive, both released in 2024, left an indelible mark on Japan's entertainment industry.
A private funeral was held with close family members, and in accordance with her wishes, there will be no public memorial service or acceptance of condolences, flowers, or offerings.
The agency expressed gratitude to her fans for their support throughout her career.
