Authorities have confirmed that the cause of death of 22-year-old livestreamer Airi Sato (known as Mogami Ai) was hemorrhagic shock, resulting from over 30 stab wounds, including a fatal injury to her neck. The suspect, Kenichi Takano (42), is being investigated for his premeditated intent, as his unresolved financial dispute with Sato escalated into violence.

Takano, who had been providing financial support to Sato, had grown frustrated over the substantial debts owed by the young streamer. Sato, who frequently asked Takano for loans under various circumstances, had never repaid him. This led to a legal battle, which Takano won, but Sato still failed to make any payments. This unresolved tension ultimately culminated in the fatal confrontation on March 11.

The murder occurred in Tokyo’s Takadanobaba district while Sato was livestreaming her walk along the Yamanote Line. Takano, having tracked her location, followed her and confronted her during the broadcast. The incident highlights the dark side of online relationships, particularly the risks that arise when financial and personal boundaries blur between creators and their audiences.

As investigations continue, authorities are looking into whether Takano’s anger over the unpaid debt drove him to take violent action, leading to a tragic end to what had started as a seemingly harmless online relationship.
