
Actress Rina Kawaei (31) announced on April 10 via her Instagram stories that she has divorced her husband, actor Tomoki Hirose (39). The announcement follows media reports that surfaced on April 9.
In her statement, Kawaei shared, "To everyone involved and to those who have supported me, I apologize for this personal matter. We have decided to end our marriage and move forward on our own separate paths. I will continue to work hard both as an actor and as a mother. It would make me happy if you would continue to watch over me warmly. Thank you for your understanding."
Hirose also shared a statement on his Instagram stories, stating, "We have decided to move forward on our own separate paths as individuals. I am truly grateful for the time we spent together and for the beloved children we were blessed with. My respect for her dedication to her work remains unchanged. Going forward, we will build a new kind of relationship as parents and raise our children together."
Kawaei joined AKB48 as an 11th generation trainee in 2010 and rose to prominence after being in the senbatsu for the group's 2012 single "Manatsu no Sounds good!" After graduating from the group in 2015, she has built a successful acting career, starring in stage productions and films, as well as landing the lead role in the 2021 NHK morning drama 'Come Come Everybody.'
Hirose gained recognition through stage and television roles including 'Yowamushi Pedal' and 'Ace of Diamond The Live,' and has appeared in numerous productions such as 'Touken Ranbu: The Movie' (2019) and 'Prince of Legend' (2020).
The couple married in 2019 and have two children, born in November 2019 and June 2023.
