Central Japan Railway Company announced on May 19 that it has launched a crowdfunding campaign with outdoor brand NANGA to produce a sleeping bag inspired by the iconic Doctor Yellow Shinkansen.
Called the "Doctor Yellow SLEEPING BAG," the project was developed in collaboration with NANGA, which is based in Maibara, Shiga along the route once traveled by the retired Doctor Yellow. According to Central Japan Railway Company, the company approached NANGA for the collaboration because both Doctor Yellow and NANGA share a commitment to reliability and safety in harsh conditions.
The companies spent months refining the design and color to avoid creating "just a yellow sleeping bag," while recreating the train's iconic bright yellow appearance and maintaining durability for outdoor use.

The sleeping bag will move into production if the crowdfunding campaign reaches its ¥3.5 million funding goal.
The campaign runs through June 30 at 11:59 p.m. JST. The standard support plan is priced at ¥77,000 (tax included), while a limited early-bird plan for 30 supporters is available at ¥69,300.
If funded, the first 100 units are scheduled to ship in mid-November. If the campaign does not reach its goal, all support funds will be refunded.
