
MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2026 (MAJ), Japan's largest international music awards event, was held on June 13 at TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO.
Now in its second year, the awards brought together artists from Japan and abroad while celebrating the growing global reach of Japanese music. Established by five major organizations within Japan's music industry, MAJ expanded to 78 categories this year, with winners selected through voting by approximately 5,000 music industry professionals from Japan and overseas.
Among the night's biggest winners, Mrs. GREEN APPLE was named Artist of the Year for the second consecutive year. Fujii Kaze won Album of the Year for "Prema," while sakanaction took home Song of the Year for "Kaiju." HANA was named New Artist of the Year, and XG received Best Global Hit from Japan for "HYPNOTIZE."
The ceremony also featured performances by artists including Fujii Kaze, sakanaction, Mrs. GREEN APPLE, Kenshi Yonezu, and Hitsujibungaku, as well as appearances from international acts, reflecting MAJ's ambition to become a globally recognized music awards ceremony.
