Pompompurin has been crowned the winner of the '2026 Sanrio Character Ranking,' earning the top spot for the second consecutive year and the fifth time overall.

The annual popularity poll received a record-breaking 70,647,379 votes, up 12% from last year. Although Cinnamoroll led in the initial results, Pompompurin secured the victory during its 30th anniversary year with more than seven million votes.

Cinnamoroll finished in second place, followed by Pochacco in third, Kuromi in fourth, and Hello Kitty in fifth. Pompompurin also ranked No. 1 in nine countries and regions, while Cinnamoroll topped the rankings in four.

Beginning in September, the top 10 characters will headline a nationwide stage show tour across 12 venues in Japan, featuring live performances, dance, and photo opportunities as a way of thanking fans for their support.
