On July 1, Mackenyu announced via his social media accounts that he has joined the talent agency Crossover.

Mackenyu described the move as a new step in his career and said he looks forward to delivering more exciting projects and showing fans new sides of himself. "I'll continue giving it my all as I move forward," he wrote.

Crossover's talent lineup also includes Ai Tominaga, Hikari Mori, and UTA.

Born in Los Angeles, Mackenyu began acting in the United States before launching his career in Japan in 2014. He won the Newcomer of the Year award at the '40th Japan Academy Film Prize' for his performance in 'Chihayafuru Part I.' He is the son of late actor Sonny Chiba and the older brother of actor Gordon Maeda.
