Hama Okamoto has announced his departure from rock band OKAMOTO'S.
The bassist had been on hiatus since April after being advised by doctors to take a break from his activities. According to an announcement on the band's official website, the members held several discussions about their respective paths before ultimately deciding that Hama would leave the group.
Reflecting on their 17 years together, Hama thanked his fellow members, whom he has known since middle school. "Looking back, I truly believe that Sho, Koki, and Reiji are the ones who helped shape me into who I am today. Thank you so much," he said.
Hama will continue to focus on his recovery, with any future activities to be announced depending on his condition. He also confirmed that he will continue performing under the name Hama Okamoto.
Meanwhile, OKAMOTO'S will move forward with their tour, OKAMOTO'S HALL TOUR 2026 '90'S TOKYO BOYS IN HALL "Future Eve"', which kicks off on August 15, with participation by support musicians.
