The hit Korean drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo is getting a Japanese remake starring Mana Ashida.
Titled Minamida Minami Bengoshi wa Tensaihada, the drama follows Minami Minamida, a rookie lawyer with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Despite graduating at the top of her class from the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Law and receiving the highest score on the bar exam, Minami struggles to find employment due to prejudice surrounding her autism. She eventually joins the prestigious Hirokawa Howard Law Firm.
While Minami faces challenges with communication and unexpected situations, she uses her exceptional memory, unique perspective, and love of the law to take on difficult cases with the support of those around her. The story will also explore her relationships, family secrets, and personal growth.
The original Korean series, which premiered in 2022, became a global hit following its release on Netflix and starred Park Eun-bin as Woo Young-woo.
Minamida Minami Bengoshi wa Tensaihada is set to premiere on October 19 at 10:00 p.m. JST on Kansai TV and Fuji TV. Each episode will also stream globally on Netflix following its Japanese broadcast.
