Japanese tv personality Suzanne has announced that her ryokan, KAWACHI BASE Ryueisou, will offer its private family baths and a communal rest area free of charge to those affected by the recent Kumamoto earthquake.

The initiative will run through August 15 and is available to people displaced by the disaster, those unable to bathe due to water outages, and volunteers assisting with relief efforts.

In a statement shared on the ryokan's official Instagram account, the facility said it hopes visitors can "relax in the hot springs and find even a small moment of comfort" during the difficult time.. They also plan to provide light refreshments, including bread and rice balls, while towels and hair dryers will be available free of charge.

This follows the magnitude 7 earthquake that struck Kumamoto Prefecture on July 28, causing widespread damage across the region.
