December 9th marks 23 years since Utada Hikaru's debut, and now, the details on their eighth album and online concert have been revealed.
The title of the singer's long-awaited album will be "BAD MODE." It will be available in digital form on January 19, then on CD on February 23. The album will feature songs such as "One Last Kiss," the theme song for 'EVANGELION:3.0+1.0 THRICE UPON A TIME,' "Kimi ni Muchuu," the theme song for TBS drama 'Saiai,' "Find Love," which is used in SHISEIDO's new global campaign 'POWER IS YOU,' "Face My Fears," the opening theme for the action RPG game 'Kingdom Hearts III,' "Time," the theme song for for NTV's drama 'Bishoku Tantei Akechi Goro,' "PINK BLOOD," the theme song for anime 'To Your Eternity,' and "Darenimo Iwanai," the CM song for 'Suntory Tennensui.' The album's limited edition will come with a DVD and Blu-ray disc including footage from 'Hikaru Utada Live Sessions from Air Studios,' its documentary film, and the music videos for "Time," "One Last Kiss," "PINK BLOOD," "Kimi ni Muchuu," and "BAD MODE."
In addition, Utada's online live 'Hikaru Utada Live Sessions from Air Studios' will be distributed on the singer's birthday, January 19 from 8:00 pm JST. The concert was recorded at Air Studios, and the singer will be performing most songs from "BAD MODE." Utada was joined by bassist Jodi Milliner, who served as the band master for their tour in 2018. It was recorded and mixed by sound engineer Steve Fitzmaurice, who also worked on the new album, and directed by David Barnard. Finally, the MV for "Kimi ni Muchuu" has been uploaded onto YouTube. The video features scenes from the online studio live as well as behind the scene footage.
